Pop Quiz!  What’s the first song in history to have four separate runs at No. 1 on the chart (in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022)?  It’s Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”, originally released in 1994.

For those savvy readers who remember the post from these pages at this time last year, The Royalties of Christmas, Mariah Carey earns somewhere between $500,000 and $600,000 per year in royalties.  As of 2017, she earned more than $60 million in royalties since its release!

It reportedly only took Mariah fifteen minutes to write the song.  Not too shabby!

Although this information is in the article I attached below on this topic, it is too fun not to mention in the post…

As mentioned above, “All I Want for Christmas is You” was originally released in 1994 and hit the Hot 100 top 10 for the first time in December 2017.  The following year it broke into the top five.  From there, well it’s held the top spot on the holiday charts (for two to three weeks straight) every year since 2019.  This year, it has been at number 1 for nine weeks so far, which more than doubles the time that the previous record holder (David Seville & The Chipmunks’ “The Chipmunk Song”) spent there in 1958- which happens to be the same year the Hot 100 launched!
