I caught this story while heading back from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony last weekend.  After forty years, ABBA has released a new studio album that includes ten new songs.  Think about that from a business perspective- how many businesses, especially those dependent upon core, founding members, would be able to revive itself after a period of forty years?  ABBA first formed as a group in 1972 and last released a record in 1982.

It helps that the music of ABBA has been introduced to new generations of fans through the hit musical ‘Mama Mia’ and the Broadway show that spun off from it.  From that perspective, ABBA never went away.  The new album is already slated to hit Number 1 in the UK.  A ‘concert residency’ called ABBA Voyage is being set up in a custom-built arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.  The shows will start in January and are being scheduled throughout 2022.  I’ve had the opportunity to listen to one of the new songs and it sounds very much like ABBA.  That is a good thing!

Enjoy this piece on the return of ABBA.  I also dug up, for your viewing pleasure, a video straight from the Rock Hall of their induction in 2010!
